Construction> Finishing The Walls The Choice Is Yours Interior Finishes Stone, brick, synthetic stone or brick are all perfectly suitable materials that can be used directly over the grid-WALL surface. ANY finish may be used though—rock, brick, siding, but stucco is the least expensive and easiest finish.  The homeowner is limited only by their imagination when choosing their design.   Plaster or Stucco Grid-WALL accepts plaster or stucco finish coat only. No wire lathe is required, cutting costs and installation time considerably. Reduce costs and time by spraying stuccos and plasters.   Elastomeric Coatings Similar to paint, but thicker, elastomeric coatings may be applied directly over Grid-WALL according to the manufacturers directions. If you choose to use this type of interior finish, it is recommended that you use a block-filler prior to priming and painting. This helps save on the amount required to use.   Floating Compound As an alternative, the interior of the Grid-WALL wall may be smoothed out with drywall compound. Texture paint may them be applied directly to the surface.   Exterior Finishes Stucco may be applied directly to Grid-WALL™ without the need for wire lath. This should cut the cost of stucco by about 25 to 30%. Synthetic stucco finishes are the cheapest and also the easiest to apply. They are also very durable. These are all reasons are why it is so highly recommended to use them with Grid-WALL products.   Brick and Stone If brick or stone is used, brick ties are attached to the Grid-WALL as the blocks are stacked.   Elastomeric Coatings Elastomeric Coatings are another choice for exterior Grid-WALL finishes. The bonding and expansion/contraction properties  mean it is much less likely to crack or peel, making it one of the longest lasting coatings for stucco on the market.   Plank Sidings, Vinyl Sidings You may choose from any variety of plank or vinyl siding product, If a plank product is going to be used, the cementitious, non-wood types will last much longer and is more in line with the idea of multigenerational homebuilding. Cementitious plank products (Hardiplank)will not rot or promote black mold growth, just like the Grid-WALL behind it will not, either.  This brand is available nationwide at hardware or building supply stores. .
